Medical organization changes position on
embryonic stem cell research
Thanks to the work of prolife physicians and prolife legislators with the help
of Right to Life of Michigan, the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) has
changed their position on
embryonic stem cell research. Since 2003, the MSMS, which represents
more than14,000 physicians in
Michigan, had an official position which favored
embryonic stem cell research. During a gathering in May, the MSMS
decided to adopt a neutral position on the issue and to provide its membership
with more information on the issue over the next year. To learn more, please
visit the Right to Life of Michigan web site dedicated to stem cell research,

The Facts of Life
The life of a baby begins long before birth. Every new and unique human being
begins his or her life at the moment of fertilization and, if not interrupted,
will someday grow into an adult man or woman. During the first month after
conception, an embryo begins developing very rapidly. By 22 days after
fertilization, the heart begins to beat. Each and every human life has a
purpose. If you are facing an unexpected pregnancy, or know someone who is, help
is available by calling 1-800-57 WOMAN.
State legislators still working for a vote on Partial-Birth Abortion Ban
Prolife legislators in
Michigan are working to ensure
Michigan’s Partial-Birth Abortion Ban gets a vote in
Michigan House after passing the Michigan Senate in January. This
legislation mirrors a federal law and would make it a felony when a physician or
any other individual performs a partial birth abortion, except to save the life
of the mother, or if the mother's life is "endangered by a physical disorder,
physical illness, or physical injury." To learn more about prolife legislation,
